How to get to and parking at Horn Pond |

Plot these directions in Google Maps to reach the boat launch parking lot on Lake Avenue in Woburn. This free parking lot has tons of spaces and clean restrooms, and you can also park for free on Arlington Road or at Ice House Park (part of the Horn Pond trail loop).

What to see at Horn Pond

For our recent hike, we parked at the boat launch and followed the paved path to the right behind the restroom facility. After a short distance, you can walk right up to the pond shore for serene nature views (and often times wildlife viewing).

Following the paved path that loops around the pond, you’ll see areas where you can hike (or bike) off trail into the woods going up inclines on mostly flat dirt trails. One area I explored had a few spots with openings to serene nature vistas.

There is also a huge boulder formation that you can hike up right off of the main trail. During our visit, there were young kids climbing on and exploring these rocks.

There are also plenty of benches along the main trail with expansive views. This is one of the great features of Horn pond making it accessible for all levels.

Part of the paved trail is on the sidewalk of Arlington Road where you can see incredible skyscapes and sunsets. There are spots all along this part of the loop to walk down to the pond shore and enjoy the evening sky in all seasons.

A fantastic spot for sunsets is at the intersection of Arlington Road and Lake Avenue where you can easily access a patch of grass with these two worn lawn chairs.

As you walk back to the boat launch parking lot or start your hike (next to a mini dam where the pond flows under the ground), this spot is the best for sunset watching. Benches along Arlington Road and a couple of picnic tables on the grassy area by the parking lot offer plenty of opportunities to pause for a moment and gaze at the sunset.

By visiting in the evening, you may see ducks, geese and other wildlife basking in the setting sun.

With so much nature variety, serene views and a combination of an accessible paved trail and opportunities to hike/bike in the woods, Horn Pond should be high on your day trip list.
